With all of the recent current events going on, like President Donald Trump potentially turning the Middle East against the U.S. by declaring Jerusalem the capital of Israel; President Donald Trump supporting an accused sexual predator in the Alabama senate election; President Donald Trump provoking North Korea to threaten to nuke us by getting in a twitter fight with Kim Jong Un; one piece of breaking news was somewhat cast aside: MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough committed murder! Well, not exactly. The President of the United States accused the journalist of murder on twitter.

Trump’s Nov. 29 tweet read: “So now that Matt Lauer is gone when will the Fake News practitioners at NBC be terminating the contract of Phil Griffin? And will they terminate low ratings Joe Scarborough based on the “unsolved mystery” that took place in Florida years ago? Investigate!”

His claim is based off a debunked conspiracy theory that Scarborough murdered one of his aides, who died in 2001 after suffering from a heart arrhythmia. The fact that her death was from natural causes has been clearly proven, but leave it to Trump to bring up a debunked conspiracy theory from over a decade ago.

Trump and Scarborough have had a feud because of Scarborough and MSNBC’s criticism of Trump, but his actions are nonetheless unprofessional and unacceptable. The President of the United States cannot run around unfoundedly accusing people of murder.

Not only is it extremely upsetting that this happened in the first place, but the fact that it was not breaking news is concerning, because the other actions of President Trump were so drastic that they overshadowed this. Political parties aside, behavior like this is completely unacceptable in a president.
