Serving up Smiles

[nggallery id=4]

Every Thursday, I carpool to Tom C. Gooch Elementary School to tutor and many Saturdays, I board the Hocka-bus to Jubilee, Carr P. Collins, or Salvation Army.  This year, I discovered that I love serving the Dallas community.  The week after Mrs. Yoshii-Buenger assigned the Community Service Project for photography class, a flash of my Canon camera greeted the kids at Gooch and the walkers at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  This was the first year we shot photos with a digital camera, rather than film.  I found it a lot harder to capture the photo I had in mind, but my subjects loved having their picture taken.  With more opportunities and encouragement to complete class projects outside of the Hockaday campus, I’ve been able to experiment with different models and settings.  Fresh subjects and scenery inspire me to capture new and creative photographs.
