The Art of Fried Food at the State Fair – Artscast

The+Art+of+Fried+Food+at+the+State+Fair+-+Artscast

This episode, ArtsCast goes to the State Fair to learn the ins and outs of making fried food, how chefs find their inspiration and how food is an art.

The State Fair of Texas has been a cultural institution since 1886. Although Fletcher’s Corn Dogs are a classic, in the past 11 years the Fair has been recognizing for its creative fried food. At the 11th Annual Big Tex Awards, eight finalists presented their fried creations to a panel of judges. They were selected by the State Fair of Texas employees. Two dishes were awarded: For Best Tasting, the Holy Moly Carrot Cake Roly; and for Most Creative, the Smoky Bacon Margarita.

ArtsCast is the Hockaday Fourcast’s Arts & Entertainment web series dedicated to reporting the latest art happenings around Dallas.

You can taste these award winning dishes and the finalists’ creations at this years’ State Fair of Texas.
